Outside the Box

Neurodiversity awareness in sport

Outside the Box introduces you to neurodiversity and the experiences of those with autism, ADHD, dyspraxia and more. It aims to improve awareness of neurodiversity in sport, so that coaches, captains and committee better understand the range of people they work with.

By the end of this session, you should:

  • Understand neurodiversity and key definitions within this topic.

  • Recognise the traits and experiences associated with each neurodivergent condition.

  • Be aware of the strengths of neurodivergent people, as well as the challenges they may face day-to-day and in sport.

  • Be able to apply your knowledge to case studies and the people you work with.

  • Take away ideas to support neurodivergent people in your sports setting.

This is the first presentation in the sports clubs bundle.
